Welcome to the Tractor Safety online training workshop offered by the Motor Safety Association (MSA). In this workshop we will review some basic safety information that is important to know when operating a tractor. All tractors have hazards that are specific to each tractor. This is based on the type of tractor you are operating and the conditions you are operating in.
This course will be approximately 2 hours long and will go toward the necessary 16 hours of training that is required to be deemed a competent operator. The goal of this online course is to help educate employees regarding the safe use of a tractor.
Federal and Provincial Governments cooperatively developed the comprehensive legislation labeled the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act and Regulations (TDG). The Act and Regulations apply to all modes of transport and to all persons involved in the handling, transporting and offering for transport of dangerous goods.
This 2 hour course covers transportation requirements for “road” shipments only. In the course you will learn about legislation and regulations governing the transportation of dangerous goods including information on training requirements, responsibilities, classification, documentation and safety marks, exemptions & special cases, industry TDG examples and reporting.
This course has been provided by the Motor Safety Association as a general introductory overview of the TDG legislation as it applies to our industry. Employers are ultimately responsible to ensure you are trained to handle the site-specific dangerous goods shipped, transported or received by your employer.
